How to keep names consistent in a translated novel

Why names drift in machine translation, and how a glossary built from the whole book stops it.

By Transleaf team1 minute read

Sentence-by-sentence translators see one paragraph at a time. A nickname can become three different words by chapter ten, and an invented place can be translated in one chapter and left in English in the next.

Read the whole book first

Transleaf reads every chapter before translating and collects people, places and invented words into one glossary. Each entry gets a single translation, or stays as written.

Decide once, apply everywhere

You can keep a name, translate it or rename it before translation starts. The choice applies to every chapter, and review notes point out the places where a decision mattered.
